Palace Hotel Tokyo

The Palace Hotel Tokyo is a luxury hotel that overlooks the Imperial Palace and gardens. The hotel has a rich history, dating back to the Meiji period when it opened its doors in 1961. The hotel has been restored and renovated over the years, and today it offers modern amenities and facilities while maintaining its old-world charm. So whether you're visiting Tokyo for business or pleasure, this is the perfect place to stay.

Overview

Palace Hotel Tokyo offers a unique city view and a tranquil location across from the Imperial Palace Gardens. The hotel also has a history that spans more than 50 years. The new version of the hotel redefines hospitality through its unfiltered celebrations of culture.

Although the Palace dates back almost half a century, they rebuilt it from scratch in 2012. It is now a 290-room palace with modern art. This creates a feeling of luxury that's more private than a multi-story hotel.

The hotel has multiple bars and restaurants, ample function space, and Japan's first Evian spa. Moreover, all of these rooms have views of the Imperial Palace gardens against a backdrop of the surrounding skyline. The hotel's interiors also reflect the city's natural beauty.

History

Founded in 1961, the Palace Hotel Co. Ltd now owns Palace Hotel Tokyo. Masatomo Yoshihara was the founder of the company and its first president. Two previous hotels, the Hotel Teito & Palace Hotel, occupied the exact location from 1947 to 1961. Then, they demolished each of them to make room for the next.

The original building was constructed in December 1937. It was built on the same site as this present hotel. It served as the Forestry Office of the Imperial Household Agency. However, the government rebuilt it as a hotel and administered it for the exclusive use of foreign buying agents.

Location

The hotel is in the heart city, Marunouchi's economic and retail center. However, its contemporary design and location next to the Imperial Palace moat with greenery and even the occasional swan floating about create a peaceful and uncrowded atmosphere.

Service and Facilities

The staff is impeccably discrete, and the check-in desk is discreetly hidden just around the corner of the hotel's grand entry. Moreover, a serene, white-themed spa with Japanese acupressure trigger points and a tranquil fitness center offers relaxation.

A range of curated activities is also available at the hotel. These include a private lunch with sumo wrestlers and a private tour of local architecture with experts.

Rooms and Suites

The guestrooms' comfortable modern and contemporary interiors, which include 290 rooms, are inspired by the Imperial Palace Gardens. However, each guestroom has a different size, with a range of sizes from 45 to 255 square meters.

Other notable features include window-side tubs and walk-in closets. Moreover, minibars are so sleek that you can shake, stir, and sip from your room. If cha is your preference, you can make your own Jugetsudo by Maruyama nori tea in the cast iron teapot. Then enjoy a cup in an ancient pottery-style handmade cup that dates back more than 1,200 years. Additionally, all guest rooms come with brand-name bath amenities. They also have separate bathtubs and showers.

Furthermore, the bathrooms in the suites are nice. Anne Semonin products are available, but you'll receive Bamford if you choose to stay in a suite. There will also be plenty of toiletries provided, as well as mirrors and Toto automatic toilets.

Dining

Wadakura is one of the 10 bars and restaurants on the sixth floor. It offers a variety of Japanese food options. These include Tatsumi (a small tempura bar that serves sakura and seaweed tastings), Go (which helps teppanyaki), and Sushi Kanesaka. You can also enjoy afternoon tea at the Palace Lounge. There are also nightcaps at the Royal Ba and delicious buffet breakfasts in Grand Kitchen. Plus, grab a table on the terrace with views of the moat.

Palace Hotel Tokyo is the result of a collaboration between Michelin-starred chefs and some of Tokyo's most promising talents. 1-1-1 Marunouchi is a highly talked-about new range of restaurants, bars, and lounges. They offer exciting new wine and dining experiences that surpass Tokyo's most refined. Moreover, each venue is unique and has its ambiance. However, each venue will be different, but each one is worth exploring. And don't forget to visit the royal bar for a martini.

Spa and Wellness

Evian Spa is the perfect setting for Tokyo's most pleasing wellness experience. Its combination of French and Asian influences, including a pristine white ambiance and Asian therapies, sets the scene for one of Tokyo's best wellness experiences. This 1,200-square-meter facility is the first in Japan. It features five treatment rooms, heated baths, and a spa suite.

There's also a cold plunge pool, a marble sauna, a dry sauna, reclining tubs, and separate men's and women's relaxation areas. Moreover, the urban spa is inspired by Evian's natural mineral water trip through the French Alps. It offers a symbolic experience that reflects the same journey. The treatments focus on celestial restoration, mineral enrichment, nourishment, and renewed vitality.

Additionally, the hotel's gym features floor-to-ceiling windows and TechnoGym equipment. It is the perfect place to get a full-body workout. You can also use the facility 24/7. Besides, the hotel will lend you clothes or shoes at no cost if you forget your gear.

Takeaway

Having a particular moat-side location, the Palace Hotel Tokyo is a Forbes travel guide five star hotel. The hotel is famous for its fine accommodations and its prime location. It also has a wide variety of room types, from standard rooms to suites. Plus, there is a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a spa. You will appreciate all that this palace hotel has to offer.
